South Texas Regional Airport
One of only two air-rail intermodal facilities in Texas, the South Texas Regional Airport and Intermodal Park is a uniquely powerful asset for manufacturing and distribution operations, promising lower costs plus greater speed, ease and flexibility.
A Game-Changing Vision
Driven by a transformative vision of an intermodal future, the City of Hondo and the Hondo Economic Development Corporation undertook the initiative to support the construction of the new facilities in 2006. Since then, the park has attracted tens of millions of dollars in private investment and has served multiple sectors, providing transloading services for food grade materials and liquids such as high fructose syrup, automotive ethanol and fracture sand, as well as providing oil collection and shipping services.
