Hondo EDC and Hondo ISD Attend Regional IncubatorEDU Showcase

December 2, 2025

Representatives from the Hondo Economic Development Corporation and Hondo Independent School District were honored to attend the first IncubatorEDU Showcase of the 2025–2026 academic year for the San Antonio region. This event brought together students, educators, mentors, and community partners from across the region to highlight the impressive entrepreneurial work taking place within local high schools.

IncubatorEDU is a comprehensive, year-long entrepreneurial program that provides high school students with the opportunity to experience the full process of launching a startup. Students begin by identifying a real problem they face in their daily lives or in their community. They then form teams and spend the academic year designing, developing, and refining a solution—whether it be a product, service, or innovative concept. The program emphasizes critical skills such as problem-solving, communication, leadership, and collaboration.

Throughout the program, students receive guidance from business professionals, industry mentors, and experienced educators. They conduct market research, build and test prototypes, develop business and financial plans, and learn how to market and position their product effectively. By the time they reach the showcase, many teams have spent countless hours researching, meeting with mentors, refining their ideas, and preparing to present them in a professional pitch format.

The regional showcase served as an opportunity for teams to present their projects to a panel and an audience, offering students a hands-on experience that mirrors real entrepreneurial environments. Beyond presenting their work, students were able to network with peers from other districts, learn from one another, and gain insight into how different teams approached problem identification and solution development. The event underscored the program’s commitment to fostering innovation, creativity, and collaboration among young entrepreneurs.

The participation of Hondo EDC and Hondo ISD reflects a strong commitment to supporting educational initiatives that prepare students for future career opportunities while strengthening the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Programs like IncubatorEDU help cultivate the next generation of leaders by giving students practical, real-world experience and encouraging them to think critically about the world around them.

Hondo EDC is proud to support and champion initiatives that inspire innovation, leadership, and business development skills in students. The organization looks forward to continued collaboration with Hondo ISD and to supporting future opportunities for students to engage in entrepreneurial learning.
