On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the City of Hondo proudly celebrated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Boise Cascade Company’s brand-new premier facility — a project that represents growth, opportunity, and long-term investment in our community.

Developed in partnership with Metropolitan Contracting Company, LLC, this impressive facility is setting a new standard for distribution centers in the region. The expansion includes a 204,000-square-foot ground-up industrial tilt wall warehouse, along with approximately 11,500 square feet of finished office space.

The event drew an outstanding turnout of leaders and partners, including city and county officials, representatives from Metropolitan Contracting, Boise Cascade, Hondo Railway, the Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Hondo Economic Development Corporation. Together, they marked this historic occasion with enthusiasm and optimism for what lies ahead.

About Boise Cascade

Boise Cascade is a leader in the building products industry across North America. A Fortune 1000 company with $6.7 billion in annual sales (2024), Boise Cascade trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol BCC. The company employs nearly 7,500 associates across more than 60 locations, including 38 distribution branches and 16 millwork door shops nationwide.

The company’s business is built on strong relationships, with shared values that guide its decisions and define its partnerships. Boise Cascade distributes a wide range of building products on a wholesale basis — including wood products, siding, composite decking, metal, insulation, roofing, and more — making it a consistent, reliable, and stable partner for customers and suppliers alike.

Boise Cascade’s history is one of resilience and innovation. While the company in its current form was established in 2004, its roots trace back to 1957 through the merger of Cascade Lumber Company of Yakima, WA, and Boise Payette Lumber Company of Boise, ID. Over the decades, the company has grown and evolved, from timber and lumber manufacturing to building a nationwide distribution network. Boise Cascade weathered challenges such as the housing market collapse and the Great Recession, ultimately emerging stronger and completing its IPO in 2013. Today, the company stands as one of the nation’s most respected names in building materials and engineered wood products.

A Bright Future for Hondo

This facility is more than just a building — it represents opportunity for Hondo families, jobs for local residents, and a commitment to long-term economic growth. It stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when vision and collaboration come together.

The Hondo EDC is proud to welcome Boise Cascade to our community and looks forward to the positive impact this partnership will have on Hondo’s future. This milestone marks just the beginning of new opportunities as our city continues to grow, thrive, and position itself as a hub for business and innovation.
