Hondo EDC Attends Regional BRE Meeting and Tours Independent Rough Terrain Center

The Hondo Economic Development Corporation continues to invest in regional partnerships and professional development that strengthen our local business community. Last week, Business Development Specialist Kaitlynn Jensen attended the Regional Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Meeting hosted by the Cibolo Economic Development Corporation in Cibolo, Texas.

As part of the meeting, attendees toured the Independent Rough Terrain Center (IRTC), an American owned manufacturer specializing in rough terrain material handling equipment. Founded in 1999, IRTC designs and manufactures innovative Rough Terrain Container Handlers (RTCHs) that are built to operate in some of the world's most demanding environments where traditional equipment cannot. Their machines serve industries including heavy logistics, construction, energy, rail, ports, and the United States Department of Defense, providing reliable solutions for moving shipping containers across rugged terrain.

The tour provided an inside look at IRTC's manufacturing operations, engineering capabilities, and commitment to innovation. Participants learned how the company continues to develop specialized equipment that supports critical infrastructure projects and logistics operations around the world while maintaining its headquarters in Cibolo.

Regional BRE meetings bring together economic development professionals from across South Texas to share ideas, discuss challenges, and explore best practices that support business retention and expansion. By collaborating with neighboring communities, organizations are better equipped to identify opportunities, strengthen regional partnerships, and support long term economic growth.
