Hondo EDC Invests in Professional Development Through OU Economic Development Institute

October 27, 2026

Hondo Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) continues to invest in professional development, strengthening the knowledge and expertise of its team to better serve the Hondo business community.

In October 2026, HEDC Executive Director Sean Patty graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute (OU EDI), completing the program's comprehensive economic development training curriculum.

OU EDI is a nationally recognized professional development program designed to equip economic development professionals with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to support business growth, attract investment, and strengthen local economies. The program covers key areas of economic development, including business retention and expansion, workforce development, economic development finance, strategic planning, and community development.

Mr. Patty's graduation represents an important professional milestone and reflects HEDC's ongoing commitment to bringing valuable expertise and innovative strategies to the Hondo community.

Continuing that commitment, HEDC Business Development Specialist Kaitlynn Jensen also participated in OU EDI's in person training held in Park City, Utah, in October 2026.

After completing multiple courses online, Jensen attended the in person program to further expand her knowledge of economic development practices, collaborate with professionals from communities across the country, and gain additional insight into strategies that support local businesses and economic growth.

Through a combination of online coursework and in person instruction, Ms. Jensen continues working toward completing the OU EDI program, building on her experience in business retention and expansion, business development, and community engagement.

Investing in Our Team, Investing in Hondo

Professional development plays an important role in HEDC's mission to encourage economic growth and create opportunities for businesses and residents.

By participating in programs such as OU EDI, HEDC staff gain access to new perspectives, industry best practices, and a national network of economic development professionals. These experiences help bring fresh ideas and practical strategies back to Hondo.

As HEDC continues its work supporting existing businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship, and pursuing new economic opportunities, the organization remains committed to investing in the people and resources that help move Hondo forward.

Congratulations to Executive Director Sean Patty on his graduation and to Business Development Specialist Kaitlynn Jensen on continuing her professional development journey!
